  It was a busy day at the saloon but all I wanted was a local beer. The doorman fit us right in the corner of the bar and I was happy. The old look brings you back, with the dancers, piano player, sawdust on the floor and the hanging wagon wheel lights. The home of the "duck fart" drink, it's a must have. Thanks we had a great time. Great service.

  A+ for fun factor. We came, grabbed a table on the upper level with an awesome view of the entertainment (fun, lively piano-bar style). There was craft beer (Alaskan brewery of course), good pub food and a fun place to unwind and have some fun. The adjacent huge gift shop makes this an obvious tourist spot, but as a tourist I fit right in.

  This Juneau "landmark" was recommended by my travel agent prior to our Alaskan cruise. After reading several reviews I was reluctant to even step foot in it. Yet like a moth drawn to the flame I found myself unable to resist it. A sort of attraction one has to mark off on their checklist regardless of how cheesy it might be.
  
  Their claim to fame is a gun left by the legendary gambler and gunfighter Wyatt Earp. And this being the oldest saloon in Alaska, it's supposed to be a genuine holdover from the states’ gold rush days. Given all that, there are times when you just go with the flow and make an obligatory visit. There is no doubt, once you step inside, that it's a tourist trap with "authentic" sawdust on the floor and gruff entertainer at the piano relaying bawdy humour.
  
  The line-ups to gain admittance can be long at times. It took us two attempts and we finally strolled in with no intention of ordering any of the run of the mill, overpriced bar food. After spending a few minutes, we were told that the only way out is through the gift shop.
  
  We seem to have spent more time in their gift shop than the actual saloon itself. A veritable treasure grove of all Red Dog paraphernalia it’s reminiscent of a Disneyland store.
  
  So visit if you must with your eyes wide open and keenly aware of the hype.

  One of our stops during our honeymoon cruise. Good service and lots of entertainment from the pianist. We found it quite memorable. Will return again one day!
